For the next two weeks, traffic will be reduced to one lane on Mount View Road with alternate flow, just 10 kilometres north of Moonbi.
Road upgrades and resurfacing is planned on the highway to remove the existing road surface and replace it with new asphalt.
Tamworth MP Kevin Anderson said there is new signage in place supported by road traffic controllers, and the speed limit will be reduced.

“Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and follow the directions of signs and traffic control,” he said.
The works will be carried out from Monday July 16 between 7am and 6pm on weekdays, and will take two weeks to complete.
Vehicles over 4.6 metres wide and 30 metres long will not be able to travel through the site between midday and 6pm for the duration of the works.
