The pumpkin patch was filled with scores of people for the harvest at Tilbuster Station on Wednesday.
Pathfinders chief executive Alan Brennan said it was important for the kids in residential out-of-home and foster care to learn to give back
“This is in preparation for our pumpkin run in a few weeks. We will be cooking pumpkin soup and serving people in Newcastle and Sydney," he said. “It’s quite a big experience for these kids.
“They are learning to work in a team and give back.
“It’s a great demonstration of our commitment to the community.”
The pumpkin run leaves from Armidale and will finish at Government House in Sydney.
