Noel Swan pleaded not guilty to common assault and two offences of stalking and intimidation in Tenterfield.
His solicitor Nick Forrest applied for bail, and said Blair would remain in Tamworth except to appear in court.
Police prosecutor Cheryl Hall opposed bail, saying Swan had a lengthy history of domestic violence.
