Kenneth Pitt appeared in Armidale Local Court on Thursday after he was cornered by Armidale Target Action Group (TAG) police inside a Claude St house about 11pm on Wednesday.
The 27-year-old was arrested and charged with an outstanding warrant for revocation of parole.
Investigators questioned Pitt and also charged him with two offences stemming from a stolen Toyota Corolla found dumped in Armidale on May 17.
He’s facing charges of take and drive conveyance without consent and be carried in stolen car.
Police will allege forensic officers recovered evidence from Pitt inside the car.
The car was involved in a crash and several “dangerous” pursuits with officers in the days before it was dumped, but no charges have been laid in relation to the chases.
Police, including TAG officers and detectives, had been hunting Pitt for weeks, and came close to arresting him before his slipped their net in Bailey Cr, last week.
New England Detective Sergeant Matt Crotty said investigations continue into the pursuits but Pitt’s arrest should serve as a warning.
“Police will use all resources available to remove wanted persons from our community,” he said.
