The National Rugby League’s Voice Against Violence program is making the trip to New England next week to help educate young men on the importance of standing up and taking action against domestic violence.

Former Canberra Raiders’ player Alan Tongue will present the program alongside NRL Community Team Leader Emily Latu and Country Rugby League’s Dennis Moran in Armidale, Glen Innes and Inverell.
With Group 19 junior rugby league being such a great nursery, having programs like this certainly helps the youth of the future moving forward, hopefully this will be the start of many community projects within the area.

One in three women have experience physical violence and the NRL targets the issue with the new program.
They developed the initiative with domestic violence organisations Our Watch, White Ribbon and Rape and Domestic Violence Services Australia to continue to be a catalyst for change.
Our Watch helped bring the program to regional areas by providing funding to the NRL.
CRL Greater Northern Regional Manager Scott Bone was thrilled our the local area will have the opportunity to be part of the program aimed to change behaviours, attitudes and actions of people in regional communities.
“The program targets 16 to 18 year old youths and Alan, in his role as an NRL ambassador, has certainly been tireless in an effort to make a difference in the community,” he said.
“Being a former Country Player he always looks forward to any opportunity to comeback and engage with the youth in regional areas
“With Group 19 junior rugby league being such a great nursery, having programmes like this certainly helps the youth of the future moving forward hopefully this will be start of many community projects within the area.”
The program will be delivered in Armidale on Monday, Glen Innes and Inverell on Tuesday and back in Armidale on Wednesday.
Their visit to Armidale will include a trip to Armidale City Public School, Rugby League Park and the Armidale Rams, Armidale High School and Minimbah Primary School.
