FORMER Guyra mayor Hans Hietbrink has been appointed to position of Development Officer for the Guyra and District Chamber of Commerce.
The announcement was made at the Chamber’s Annual General Meeting on Thursday, September 22.
Mr Hietbrink said his vision for the following year is to make Guyra thrive.
“We’re going to put together a strategic plan to drive Guyra.
“There needs to be a body or an organisation in Guyra that spearheads that and we think the Chamber is the organisation to do that,” he said.
The Chamber hopes to harness the energy in town to make Guyra a destination rather than a place bypassed on the way to Armidale or Inverell.
Chamber President Aileen MacDonald said the team are also looking for a Secretary and Membership Officer to complete the Executive.
“Our Executive will get together to work on ideas and put together a Strategic Plan to take our Chamber beyond 2016 and towards 2026.”
