
Police are searching for a prisoner who escaped from a minimum security facility in Glen Innes on Tuesday morning.
Steven Barber, 39, was last seen in a room within the minimum security correctional centre in Glen Innes about 5.30pm Monday.
Officers noticed the window of his room was smashed and that he was missing after 1am Tuesday.
Mr Barber’s disappearance was reported to police from New England Local Area Command and a search of the area failed to find him.
Steven Barber is described as being of Caucasian appearance, around 180cm to 185cm tall, about 80kg in weight, with a medium build, and short brown hair.
He has tattoos of boxing gloves on his back, a tattoo of a snake on his left forearm and was last seen wearing a green prison uniform.
Investigations are underway to locate him and police are urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Meanwhile, a man who escaped a correctional centre near West Kempsey on Tuesday has been arrested by police.
The 31-year-old man escaped the correctional centre at Aldavilla shortly after 8am on Tuesday. He was arrested that afternoon near Wauchope.
