Guyra has just experienced its warmest March in 17 years. Maximum temperatures averaged 23.0C making it the warmest March since 1998. At this time of year winds are usually mild easteries, but during March a number of troughs over New South Wales caused west and north-westerly winds to prevail drawing in warm air from central Queensland lifting temperatures above normal levels.

March 20 was also the hottest day in 17 years with Guyra’s maximum of 30.0C the highest for the month of March since March 14, 1998 when 30.2C was recorded. It was also the hottest day since November 23 last year when it reached 33.2C.
