PRACTICAL fields days aimed at helping farmers control feral animals will be held across the Northern Tablelands in the lead up to Christmas.

New England North West Landcare project officer Mahri Koch will help farmers identify pest animals and how to effective place baits.
“A major impact of pest animals that is often overlooked is the stress they cause landholders and communities," Dr Koch said.
"Predation of livestock or the destruction of crops and pastures has a major impact on families.”
Contract trapper Mark Lamb will show how to identify key travel ways and cross over pointsc of the feral pests.
Tracks, scats and other signs will also be covered for feral pigs, wild dogs, foxes and cats. Local Land Services biosecurity officers will also show how to prepare grain for feral pig control as well as integration of bait types and poison delivery techniques for all pest animal management.
