Without sponsors these events would not be possible, so to the following sponsors, a big thank you: David Wilcox, Murray and Betty-Anne Bourke, James Souter and Ivel Reid.
Thanks also to Donna and her band of helpers for Saturday’s lunches (enjoyed by all). Also, thank you to John Bourke for Sunday’s salivating sausage sizzle. To Murray and David for doing the draw, the cards and keeping the scoreboard up to date. To Betty and all the bar staff, thank you (most enjoyable). Thanks Heater Bob.
Well, we had better say something about the bowls. Saturday, with no help from the weather (very cold and no sun), 18 teams took to the greens at 9.00am. This was a strong field and at the close of play there were five teams with three wins out of three games, closely followed by four teams with two wins.
Now to Sunday (the money games) and after the dust had settled, the place-getters were as follows.
In 4th place was the team of Cameron Peardon, Robert Moore and John McIllwain from Guyra with four wins plus 44 shots; 3rd place was the team of David McCann, Dean Farrell and Todd Fuller (Armidale City) with four wins plus 52; in 2nd place with five wins plus 54 was the team of Murray Bourke, David Wilcox and Mick Shiner all the way from Guyra.
This only leaves 1st place left, so congratulations to the eventual winners, who were Christine Hadden, Greg Harrison and Chris Brodbeck (Armidale City) with five wins plus 67.
On closing, thank you to all bowlers who participated and may next year’s be bigger and better.
This Sunday, September 7 there will be social bowls following a bowls meeting at about 11.30am. So, bowlers and non-bowlers alike let’s turn up and have some fun.
