The organisation was successful in receiving a state government grant as part of the community building program, with $11,687 going towards freshening up the exterior of the building.
President of U3A Armidale Shirley Cook said the outside was in desperate need of repainting.
NSW Minister for Aging John Ajaka will visit U3A this afternoon to meet with the group.
He will be joined by Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall; who Mrs Cook said was instrumental in helping application.
Ms Cook said they had hoped to have the job completed before next month’s U3A network NSW conference, annual general meeting and members’ forum, which will be held in Armidale.
“We have people attending from as far away as Tasmania and executives from U3A’s NSW,” she said.
However a delay with Council approval means it would be unlikely, with the conference beginning May 7.
Mrs Cook said anyone interested in attending the conference should contact the office to complete a form and pay their fee.
