More than 30 candidates have already indicated their intention to stand.
The list reads:
Colin Gadd, Andrew Murat, Jim Maher, Herman Beyersdorf, and Margaret O’Connor served on the previous Council and will all stand as independents.
From the Greens, Dorothy Robinson and Peter O’Donohue also served terms with Armidale Dumaresq Council. Their group is rounded out with Tim Collins, Dora Koops, Pat Schultz and Joanna Garnett.
Labor will field Debra O’Brien as their lead candidate. Susan McMichael, Liam Dudgeon, Margaret Finley, Jasmine Hughes, and Yvonne Langenberg will complete the group.
From Guyra, Simon Murray is the only candidate from the previous Guyra Shire Council. Aileen MacDonald is also standing, as is Libby Martin from Wollomombi.
Diane Gray, Dale Curtis, Les Davis, Martha Saw, John Galletly, Maria Hitchcock, Jack Rapley, Gordon Cope, Brad Widders, Trevor Smith, Peter Bailey, Joshua Fittler, Kevin Dupe, David Levingston, Alison Stewart and Ian Tiley have also confirmed their intention to nominate.
Nominations will remain open until noon, August 9, with a ballot draw to be held on the same day at 4pm.
But returning officer Jodie McKenna said it was best for candidates to officially lodge their nominations soon.
“Any person who intends to lodge a nomination form for the Armidale Regional Council local government election, It is advisable to lodge early and also to make an appointment with the returning officer where possible to lodge their application form,” she said.
The Armidale Regional Returning Officer’s Office is in the old library building at 122 faulkner Street, Armidale.

Postal voting will open the following Monday, August 14.
And pre-poll voting on August 28.
Election day is September 9.
