TAS raises money for Anya's Wish and the 'Guns out for Tombsy' Foundation

The event was designed to be an accessible, COVID-19 friendly alternative to the cancelled Sydney City 2 Surf event which TAS has long supported, organiser Jim Pennington said

Participants alternated between two circuits depending on their year group, running a set number of laps every hour, for four hours - with 19km the destination.

Before leading out the senior school students on their circuit, Principal Dr Horton reminded all participants to spend some of their time reflecting on the causes they were running for.

"As in the past we are supporting the 'Guns out for Tombsy' Foundation which is helping former Wallaby and TAS Old Boy Richard Tombs with his rehabilitation after a serious spinal injury left him in a wheelchair,"Dr Horton said.

"We are also running for the charity 'Anya's Wish' to raise funds into children's cancer research, this disease having claimed the life of Anya Zuber and Peta Kerr, sisters of Alexander (Zuber) and Lettie (Kerr) both in Year 11."

The distance was set at 19km, the age at which Anya died from the disease.

"With Junior School students joining in the fun for the first two hours, there was a wonderful atmosphere and a really tangible sense of purpose from across the whole school," Mr Pennington said.

"As usual these sort of things can't be done without wonderful support from staff who ran, marshalled and barbecued."

The TAS 4 Hour will also be a recognised event of the 19 for 19 Challenge, a community bush walk on 21 November to raise funds for the Children's Cancer Institute under the auspices of Tour de Rocks.
