Short-term there is a pressing need to support the work of community agencies engaging with the most disadvantaged members of our community. Increasing inequity exacerbates social chaos and decreases a sense of belonging.
Projects associated with the development of social housing initiatives, improved employment opportunities and a range of ways of engaging community members in activities they enjoy.
I offer previous experience in governance roles including the ability to hold my ground on issues that I deem need me to fight to the end. An extensive community work background coupled with case management work for the union give me lived experience dealing with inequality, prejudice and unfair practices. I have a personal focus on taking a rights-based approach. A career as an academic prepares me to undertake research, seek out information and engage in evidence-based decision-making. I have a strong personal desire to work towards social justice underpinned by a recognition of the need to care for our environment as the foundation of our lives on this planet.
