Armidale region deserves better.
Our region needs new innovations and fresh ideas for growth, providing opportunities for our community to make their own lifestyle choices.
Accepting sustainable new business opportunities, gives more jobs for locals, attracts visitors, investors and future residents.
We need better base infrastructure like water, energy, and transport to be maintained at a higher standards for growth.
2 What do you think is the single most important issue facing the Armidale area?
Lack of population growth. This is the key to so many things in our region.
We need to attract people in their 30's and 40's. They are usually in a stage of their life, either as a young couple, or as a young family. Looking for secure jobs, value-for-money housing, good education, and may even consider starting a business. This group of people will spark growth for generations to come.
3 What projects/developments do you intend to advocate for if elected as a Councillor?
With regional budgets already stretched, we should focus on completing existing projects while planning for future strategic ones.
I support the New England Renewable Energy Zone, Armidale Airside Business Park, Malpas Dam Upgrade, and Road & Bridge Renewals.
Each of these projects tackle industry growth, water security and infrastructure availability; all foundations for lifestyle choice and economic development.
4 What expertise or attributes do you have which would help you in undertaking the role of Councillor?
I offer my experience as a leader throughout my 25+ year career in technology having held executive positions with global companies to run and grow the business.
This has involved me working in teams, in positions of trust and responsibility, to make well informed decisions.
Personally, I am a strategic thinker, planner, and consider the facts before making decisions.
