The first concerts presented by the New England Conservatorium of Music since the onset of COVID19 were great successes according to CEO Chris Clark, demonstrating that local music lovers were keen to see more live performances in our region.
"These concerts were made possible because the pandemic had disrupted the Orchestra's international touring plans so they made the commitment to visit regional centres," Mr Clark said.

"ACO Artistic Director Richard Tognetti and the other musicians responded warmly to the enthusiastic audiences with some of their best performances I have ever seen."
Mr Clark said it was wonderful to see so many students and their parents in the crowd.
"This was a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience a live concert by some of the best musicians in the country in such an intimate setting, in the auditorium here at the Conservatorium," he said.
He said members of the local community also commented how wonderful it was to see the Armidale Teachers' College lit up at night and being used for live performances again.
"We are planning to present a full program of live music throughout 2021 here and look forward to more people joining us to enjoy these events," Mr Clark said.
"The two performances were able to accommodate a full audience of more than 400 people each after the relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions by the NSW government and the extra tickets were snapped up immediately by local music lovers."
Artistic Director of the Australian Chamber Orchestra Richard Tognetti AO joked with the audience as he led the orchestra while playing on his beautiful 1743 violin 'Carrodus' in an hour-long program that included compositions by Mendelssohn and Tchaikovsky.
"The ACO was thrilled to return to Armidale to play two sold-out concerts at the New England Conservatorium of Music," said Mr Tognetti.
"What a fantastic facility your community has in this huge and historic building! We'll be keeping an eye on NECOM developments and look forward to a return visit by ACO musicians in the future".
The eleven members of the Australian Chamber Orchestra usually perform over 100 concerts a year and are considered one of the leading string orchestra's in the world because of their commitment to creating transformative musical experiences.
Tickets are now on sale for the next concert being presented by the New England Conservatorium of Music on May 20 when audiences will experience some of the most famous arias of all times performed by Opera Australia's brightest young stars accompanied by a 10-piece chamber orchestra, in a performance described as being 'opera without the boring bits'.
