A CONVENIENCE store in Armidale was the target of an armed robbery on Saturday night, and three boys have now been arrested in connection to the incident.

Police from New England were told the teenagers - two of whom were aged 15 and the other one 14 - entered the property on Queen Elizabeth Drive and threatened an employee with a firearm.
The trio allegedly arrived at 7:20pm wearing face coverings and stole cigarette lighters and chocolates.

They fled the scene with the goods and police were alerted. A crime scene was setup at the location.
Shortly after reviewing CCTV footage of the hold-up, police went to a home in Armidale.
Officers claim when they arrived three boys attempted to flee on foot . They were quickly arrested and taken to Armidale Police Station where they were questioned, subsequently charged.
All three teenagers have been charged with robbery while armed with an offensive weapon, and have been conditionally bailed to appear to at a children's court in May.
Police said the dog unit was called in to try and find the firearm police allege was used in the robbery.
Shortly after the search, the dog discovered the gun in nearby bushland. Police have confirmed the firearm is a replica and has been seized as part of the investigation.
