A man has been charged following an attempted armed robbery in the state's Northern Tablelands.

At about 1.25am on Wednesday, November 11, a man armed with a box cutter entered a business on Marsh Street in Armidale and approached a staff member.
The man allegedly demanded cash while threatening the employee with the weapon; however, he left the store empty handed.
New England Police District officers attended a short time later and commenced an investigation.
Based on their inquiries police arrested a 21-year-old man following a vehicle stop on Taylor Street in Armidale at about 8.30am the next day.
The man was was taken to Armidale Police Station and charged with robbery armed with offensive weapon, and destroy or damage property worth less than $2000.
The man appeared before Armidale Local Court on Thursday November 12 and was refused bail.
