MS Armidale held its second annual Melbourne Cup fundraiser at the Armidale Bowling Club on the day of the 2018 Melbourne Cup and about 130 people were there for the meal, fashion parade and the running of the cup.
As usual there were winners on the afternoon and there were those who did not do too well at all, but all seemed to enjoy their afternoon at the track.
On the day, secretary for MS Armidale Lyn Messing said it was the second year the event had been held and they hoped it would raise a similar amount to first one 12 months earlier, about $4000.
On the track two years ago, Cross Counter ended two decades of Melbourne Cup frustration for Godolphin, beating Marmelo and A Prince Of Arran in an all-northern hemisphere finish.
