On Friday morning I received a phone call from Armidale Regional Council.

The caller queried a story published on the Express website that morning, which said the council would officially be suspended that day and the administator appointed.
It was not the first story to mention it.
When I learned from state MP Adam Marshall early last week that the administrator would be named on Friday I published it then.
Unfortunately the communication from the Office of Local Government to Armidale Regional Council that Viv May would begin his work as administrator was not as good.
The mayor and councillors only learnt the suspension was beginning Friday on the day itself in a last-minute phone call from the OLG.
It ended a week, where the council was also involved in legal proceedings against five of its councillors.
On day two the legal debate continued, before Justice Brian Preston said we would wait to hear his decision.
The work at UNE to get its virtual hospital up and running was fast-tracked during the coronavirus pandemic, and it's a similar story with digital prescriptions, where a local trial is happening that allows a doctor to send prescriptions via email of SMS.
As restrictions lift we are seeing more aspects of life in the city return to normal.
Last week it was announced that sport will be able to resume in July, and QantasLink announced that an additional flight would be returned to the Armidale-Sydney route.
In the meantime, if you're looking to getaway closer to home, a new lookout near Waterfall Way has been opened and it looks spectacular.
Have a great week!
