Forty young musicians from NSW towns will travel to Tamworth on Wednesday for four days of rehearsals, tutorials, and a full-length concert performance, as members of Regional Youth Orchestra NSW.
Hosted by Tamworth Regional Conservatorium, the students will prepare major symphonic works by Beethoven (the Egmont Overture), Tchaikovsky (the Fourth Symphony), Sibelius (Finlandia), and the popular Australian composer Elena Kats-Chernin (Celebration Tango) for their concert on Sunday, November 3, at 11am in the Tamworth War Memorial Town Hall.
Caitlin Annesley, Mia Baivucago, Elian Cotter, Ella Crowley, Madison Sim, Ruby Straker, Abigail Thompson, Emily Thompson, and Xavier Walsh will represent NECOM.

The regional music students selected range from 11 to 20 years. They are all members of Regional Youth Orchestra NSW (RYO), an auditioned orchestra of talented young musicians the Association of NSW Regional Conservatoriums established in 2016.
The RYO showcases the musical talent of regional youth from the 17 Regional Conservatoriums in NSW country towns, all funded by the NSW Government to provide high quality music education for regional schools and communities.
These young musicians have performed at the Sydney Opera House and been mentored by world-class conductors and players from the Australian World Orchestra, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Staatskapelle Berlin, the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, and the Opera Australia Orchestra.
"This is the third time we have held our RYO orchestral camp to coincide with the Artstate conference and festival presented by Regional Arts NSW," Anita Bellman, President of the Association of NSW Regional Conservatoriums and Director of Northern Rivers Conservatorium, said.
"RYO has performed the finale concert for Artstate 2017 in Lismore and Artstate 2018 in Bathurst. And before that, the inaugural RYO concert was at the national event Artlands, held in Dubbo in 2016, and also coordinated by Regional Arts NSW. So our partnership with Regional Arts NSW has been a key part of RYO's development."
The Association had to plan for months to bring the students together for the event in Tamworth.
"We have young musicians travelling all the way from Lismore, Coffs Harbour, Grafton, Gosford, Armidale, Bathurst, Dubbo, Orange and Wollongong, as well as a strong contingent of local Tamworth students," RYO conductor Patrick Brennan, Director of Central Coast Conservatorium, said.
"Our four-day program is packed with rehearsals and tutorials to prepare the challenging program of music for our Sunday concert."
Adam Wills, RYO conductor, Director of Clarence Valley Conservatorium and Vice President of the Association of NSW Regional Conservatoriums, said: "Performing together in a regional town like Tamworth is a tremendous opportunity for these young regional musicians.
"RYO's concert will showcase the high standard of playing these talented students have achieved with the help of their regional conservatoriums, and hopefully it will inspire younger students to excel as orchestral musicians."
