In an email sent out by Ciaron Maher Racing, it has been announced 12 staff have been made redundant at the Miners Rest stables.
A total of 61 staff have kept their jobs, according to the email.
Although not unexpected, there had previously been signs of hope that Maher would be able to retain a lot of staff since taking over from Weir.
However, when taking over Maher said he would not be operating at the same scale as Weir in the short-term future.
The email said it was a regrettable situation.
“Whilst it is never pleasant to undergo a process such as this, it needs to be understood that the number of horses that were managed previously at this location has reduced by some 35%, with the reduction in staff numbers at 16%,” it reads.
“Our purchase of hits facility has allowed a large number of staff to remain in their existing roles, with benefits and entitlements carried across under Ciaron Maher Racing.”
