It is amazing how far a drone can fly from home base. It has been suggested to me that they can go as far as 7km, beyond which all control is lost.

Of course the advice is to not let them get out of sight or you may lose them. That’s good advice, but such is their size, they can even get lost close to home if you are not paying attention.
Equally amazing is the range of a human. Their limits are largely the length, breadth and height of the planet we live on.
I have recently been roaming the whole of this planet, living out of suitcases, soaring in planes above nations, cities and people, enjoying the sights and sounds of new places.
I used to think the world was a big place, but with travel and information it really is not that big at all. But big or small, it’s easy to get lost when home is out of sight and beyond the limits of control. People can get lost in jungles far from home and even in the fields, or supermarkets, next to where they live.
Some people even get lost inside themselves and we all know times when we have lost our way in life.
The beauty of the drone is its inbuilt GPS system. Calibrate the compass, let it set its GPS position and it knows where home is. All this would be of little importance if it did not have a button called “Return to Home”. Press the button and the drone flies to its GPS settings and returns, landing exactly where it left from.
Only the compass of God can help people to navigate their way to safety.
It is a pity that life for us personally doesn’t come with this kind of inbuilt technology. With all our freedoms we have never been more confused, disoriented and lost.
GPS positioning – God People Sin – is ignored all over the world to our peril. Sin has altered our direction, People are disoriented, and God is the missed answer.
The human compass needs recalibrating. God is where home is.
People are no longer lost when they are with God. Sin is always a distortion of direction. Only the compass of God can help People to navigate their way to safety.
Without such a compass, humanity may wander many places but never home. O for a button called “Return to Home”.
It works on a drone when close enough to receive the message but it’s inadequate for us. We require much more than a button and it’s why God entered our world in person.
Jesus Christ offers home to anyone who is close enough to receive the message. Sin endangers our capacity to stay in range but God’s grace in Jesus Christ never allows you to be out of range from His love and the home He offers.
It was Jesus who said: “I have come to seek and save the lost.” It was Jesus who said: “In my Father’s house are many rooms and I go to prepare a place for you so that where I am you may be also.”
If you are lost, then go to Jesus Christ who lived and died seeking the lost to bring you home.
Drone advice is to not fly at night. God’s advice is to not live in the darkness.
Jesus said: “Come to me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.” That’s an invitation to come home in the light.
