State of Origin II, 2018: NSW Blues take it and claim a series win

NSW have snagged the 2018 State of Origin series after a thrilling win in game II of the series on Sunday night.

The Blue led the match at halftime 12-10, and went on the seal the victory by four points at full-time, 18-14.

After a decade of disappointment, NSW coach Brad Fittler is a State of Origin series winning coach at his first attempt. An undefeated one, too.

The Baby Blues - boasting 11 debutants - came of age against a Maroons side without retired greats, ex-skipper Cameron Smith, Johnathan Thurston and Cooper Cronk, in front of 87,122 fans.

NSW Blues 18 (Josh Addo-Carr, Latrell Mitchell, penalty try; James Maloney 3 goals) defeated Queensland Maroons 14 (Valentine Holmes, Dane Gagai, Will Chambers tries; Holmes goal) at ANZ Stadium. Referees: Gerard Sutton, Ashley Klein. Crowd: 82,223.
