Mr Turnbull's whistlestop at Bridgewater on Thursday morning comes as the state government plans to hand down its budget, with Treasurer Peter Gutwein expected to confirm a $115 million contribution to the project.
The federal government committed $461 million to the new bridge in the May budget.
Mr Turnbull has lauded the joint project as "a project of national and state significance".
"The money is there to get on and build it," he told Triple M.
Mr Hodgman said construction would begin in about three years as part of an infrastructure-heavy budget, to be handed down at 3.30pm.
"It will be a massive infrastructure budget. It will literally be about building our state's future - building more roads, schools, hospitals," he said.
Mr Turnbull will visit Burnie in the north-west seat of Braddon later on Thursday.
