
THIEVES have made off with several guns after targeting an Armidale home during daylight.
On Christmas Eve, offenders forced their way into a house in Niagara St, Armidale.
Once inside, they accessed a gun safe and stole six firearms and ammunition.
New England police confirmed one shotgun and five rifles were taken from the home.
Investigators believe the break-in occurred between 6.30 and 7.30pm on Saturday.
Police were notified and a crime scene was set up at home.
Officers are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information is being urged to contact Armidale police on 6771 0699.
It comes just days after a four firearms were seized by Oxley police during random inspections in Tamworth and Moonbi.
Officers seized two 50-calibre rifles from a home after they were allegedly left unsecured by a licensed shooter, while a pistol and a rifle were also confiscated.
