Stacey Drew is celebrating a successful year with her six-year-old stock horse gelding MJay Raven.
Drew and MJay Raven won reserve champion Australian Stock Horse hack at the prestigious Sydney Royal Show earlier in the year, won the Warwick show hack challenge and most recently won Supreme Horse at Dorrigo Show last weekend.
"It is my second year at the show, last year we did the supreme horse workout but we missed out on it,” Drew said.
"This year I got it on the same horse. Dorrigo show is one of my favourite shows, I really like it.”
She has competed with Australian Stock Horses since she was 10-years-old.
Drew is a regular on the local show circuit as well as competing at the big events around the state and over the border.
"We have a break now until the shows start again, the first will be Bundarra,” she said
"Then it will just be getting ready for Sydney Royal, nationals and Toowoomba which is all in March and April.
"At nationals and Sydney you have the best of the best, you have to qualify to get to Sydney and then at nationals it is massive classes, you could have 60 in a class.”
Drew currently competes with three stock horses bred by Goulburn-based stud MJay Stockhorses.
She said she has another up and comer about to hit the show ring.
"I seem to have success with all three of them at the moment,” she said.
"I have a two-year-old filly at the moment, a sister to the horse I won on at Sydney and on the weekend about to hit the show ring.”
