Veronica Marshall and Lily McCarthy auditioned for the prestigious choir through the New England Conservatorium of Music and will join more than 300 school students from around the country.
“I prepared for the audition with a lot of practicing of sight-singing and that’s really hard,” Lily said.
“It’s where they give you a sheet of music and you’ve got to read it off the sheet and sing it.”
The choir is a two week intensive held at the University of New South Wales that will this year take a modern twist.
For the first time the students will sing classical music alongside choral group The Idea of North that will teach A Capella Academy.
Veronica said she was looked forward to more contemporary songs.
“It was really cool last year, but this year there’s going to be an A Capella group so it might be a bit more modern this time, sort of like Pitch Perfect,” she said.
