The Northern Inland Football season has officially ended with the league’s presentation night held in Narrabri on Saturday.
South Armidale’s Jaime Wright received the first grade Golden Boot award for finishing the competition with the most goals scored. Captain-coach Ben Wright was named alongside Oxley Vale Attunga’s Adam Watson as the premier league’s best player for 2016.
The Scorpions’ coach said it was shock to be named the season’s best.
“Personally I am quite humbled to receive an award of such merit in the Northern Inland premier league as there are plenty of talented players throughout,” he said.
“It helped being in such a successful team during the 2016 season though. It's a great accolade for both myself and the club and comes as a fantastic reward for the hard-work during the year from everyone involved with South Armidale. Jaime Wright was outstanding all year and I couldn't be happier for him to come away with leading scorer of the competition.”
