Wright College’s rugby union club made a return to the New England rugby union competition in the college’s 60th year.
Entering the third grade competition, the took to the field against the Barbarians team in their round one fixture on April 2.
Although the club didn’t have their best season upon their return, club president Aaron Fox said the signs are looking good for the future.
“This year didn’t pan out the way we wanted it to but we looked at it as a development year,” he said.
“Leading into next year we are looking to have three competitive teams in the competition next year with a second, third and women’s side. The growth of the club has been outstanding.
“Next year we are attracting a lot more interest from coaches too.
“2017 is really the year we are looking to cement our status into the competition.”
Fox said more players are interested in signing up for the next season.
The reunion is bringing back plenty of former Wright rugby players who have thrown their support behind the club.
