IT WAS a match made in heaven when violinists Holly Bennett and Margaret Butcher met in the city.
Bennett’s career as a violinist began in Adelaide while Butcher studied in Sydney and Austria, but it was not until they found themselves in Armidale when they started playing together.

The pair formed the Amberwood Duo after discovering they had a similar approach to making sound on the violin and a common passion for music of the 20th century.
Now Butcher and Bennett are planning to showcase their talent with series of concerts in the region, playing in Armidale on Friday at 7.30 pm in Room G31 at the Old Teachers’ College.
On Sunday they will travel to McCrossin’s Mill in Uralla for a concert at 3pm.
The shows will feature music by Charles-Auguste de Bériot, Margaret Sutherland, Luciano Berio and Sergei Prokofiev.
Tickets for both concerts, which cost $20 for adults and $18 concession, will be
available at the door, with free entry for school-aged children.
