Professional Pilot Training will be visiting the city next week and is hopeful of recruiting new cadets into a career as a pilot.
Chief Instructor Rob Loreton said he hoped to leave Armidale with a few prospective cadets signed up for a training camp.
“I’d like them to walk away with a clear understanding that aviation is a very rewarding career and it is in the ability of men and women,” Mr Loreton said.
“They don’t have to be rocket scientists or super humans, we are just looking for people with an just an interest in aviation.”
The training camp will commence in April with the one month program which can then be extended to the full training to commercial pilot level.
Mr Loreton said the requirements of cadets went beyond academic successful but involved a diverse range of skills.
“The modern cadet must be groomed to be a valuable airline employee and a capable aircraft commander,” Mr Loreton said.
“They will must possess excellent aeroplane manipulative skills that are supported by confident leadership through the application of excellent thinking and communication skills while under pressure in an airborne environment.
“We do not perform any other business or aviation activity, we are totally dedicated to a cadet’s personal training.
“We believe that flying an aircraft is only part of the requirements of a modern airline pilot.”
The training school will be visiting city’s across the state as part of their recruitment.
Mr Loreton said it was a great opportunity for prospective cadets.
“The metropolitan cities have a lot more access so we thought it would be wonderful to visit more rural areas,” Mr Loreton said.
The information seminar will be held February 24 from 6 to 9pm at Armidale City Bowling Club.
