His side didn’t concede a goal and every player pulled their weight.
“I can’t fault anyone. Everyone played well,” Quaife said.
“We’re only amateurs but it was a good professional win. We didn't concede a goal – which was good.
“The game was played in a good spirit and Moree were good hosts.
“I think they won the Namoi comp last year and I think 2-0 was a deserved result.”
While Quaife said everyone played a part in the victory, he also thought some players stood out.
“Naran Singh got two goals and Sam Constance was particularly good in defence,” Quaife said.
“They were the standouts and young Jack Campbell in his first grade debut in the run-on side was good and played the whole 90.”
The match was a chance for Demon Knights to showcase a new-look side.
Quaife said he’d lost 2017 captain Morgain Quaife, Cal Macgregor and Cody Watts from last year’s squad.
However, he said Tom Landes had returned to the club while junior players would fill the other spots in the side.
“We’ve got some good juniors that played ressies last year and will be ready,” he said.
It was the second time in as many weeks Demon Knights hit the road after taking on Westlawn in Grafton the week before.
Quaife said he’d like to see lengthy road trips avoided when possible.
The draw for the FFA Cup was randomly drawn but Quaife said he’d have had the neighbouring teams play each other first up before travel was necessary.
“If I was in charge I would have pitted Moree against Narrabri and the Tamworth teams together and the Armidale teams together,” Quaife said.
DK have drawn Oxley Vale Attunga for the next round of FFA Cup. OVA will host.
The other third round game will see Tamworth FC take on the winner of this week’s match between North Companions and Narrabri FC.
Tamworth FC defeated Armidale City Westside 9-0 on Sunday to progress.
Striker Troy Hearfield scored a double and Jackson Haussler scored a hat-trick in the match.
