Warwick Stacey will stand for the Seniors United Party of Australia, which ran Senate candidates at last year’s federal election.
“Warwick has broad real life experience and is an excellent candidate to represent our policies to the people of New England,” Campaign manager Chris Osborne said.

Mr Stacey has served in the British Army and the Australian Army Reserve, worked for companies both here and overseas in logistics, security, and risk and crisis management, and successfully established his own business during the recession in the early 1990s.
“This is an opportunity for the people of New England to show their displeasure at the way politics has been conducted in Canberra in recent years,” Mr Stacey said. “I’m increasingly appalled at the way politicians treat us with what I call careless indifference.”
Mr Stacey said he believed that the public, and in particular seniors, were very upset with the shameless self-interest, the constant abuse of expense accounts and the brazen sense of entitlement that he said many politicians exhibit.
He said that these failings of leadership were exacerbated by “sheer incompetence and outrageous waste in the planning and delivery of major programs”.
“We have a comprehensive policy on politician’s remuneration, superannuation and expense accounts, as well as other policies which will be released during the campaign,” he said.
The party said the formal announcement would be made at midday on Wednesday, near the now-closed ministerial office in Armidale’s Beardy Street mall.
