Nearly 200 runners turned out for Armidale Parkrun’s weekly event on Saturday and donned their favourite yellow clothes and dug deep to raise $907.
Trudy Fittler helped organise the fundraiser after being affected directly by the disease through losing her son Noah to a brain tumour and said she was “overwhelmed” by the generosity of the runners.
“The money will go to Braver, Stronger, Smarter,” she said.
“It really was a fun community morning. I was really blown away.”
Braver, Stronger, Smarter was started to honour children finding cancer with the hope of finding new treatments. Current treatments available were designed for adults and have damaging long-term effects on children and little funding is directed into further research.
