Glen Morris, 54, was clocked going 90 kilometres along Tingha Road in Wandsworth on April 8, and pleaded guilty in Armidale Local Court on Monday.
“My wife was by my side, she’ll usually really strict on me but we were both a bit lax [sic] that day,” he said.
“I’m extremely sorry for my actions.”
Magistrate Michael Holmes said Morris had an appalling driving record.
“I get people coming in here with forty year driving records without a blemish and you’re asking for what they usually get,” he said.
Morris was put on a behaviour bond for two years and no conviction was recorded.
“I’ve taken into account your references and community involvement,” Magistrate Holmes said.
“The court understands community frustration with these roadwork speed limits, but they are imposed because of road conditions.
“This is your first and last chance, alright?” Magistrate Holmes said.
