Ben Venue Public School student Hannah Whitton is receiving treatment in Westmead Hospital as she waits for a heart transplant that will save her life.
In Armidale, her classmates rallied to show their support.
Year 5 teacher Rhiannon Trott said the kids had been busy brainstorming ideas for weeks to raise funds.
“Hannah is a beautiful, happy-go-lucky, kind little girl and this is taking a toll on her and her family,” Ms Trott said.
“Any way we can help we’re happy to and whatever money we raise will go directly to helping Hannah and her family because they’re down there for a long time.”
With a number of family members at the school, Ms Trott said it was important to them to feel they were making a difference.
“We’ve talked about heart health in our classrooms so the day was about everyone getting together, doing something fun and supporting someone in our school,” Ms Trott said.
