AN ELDERLY widower charged in connection to a crash that killed a Tamworth man and seriously injured his wife has had his charges dismissed.
Owen Croft, 84, was facing six offences after the crash on the New England Highway, between Uralla and Armidale, in 2015.
After a report considered by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), the crown told Armidale Local Court on Wednesday it was withdrawing all six charges.
Magistrate Michael Holmes formally dismissed the charges and the case against Croft.
Croft was behind the wheel of a Subaru sedan on November 2 when it collided with an oncoming Ford Fairlane, about 6km north of Uralla, near Chiswick Station.
The crash injured Croft and claimed the life of 68-year-old Phillip Morris from Tamworth, who was behind the wheel of an oncoming Ford.
Sally Croft, who was a passenger in the Subaru her husband was driving, died in hospital almost a week after the crash.
Croft was never required to enter a plea to the charges including dangerous driving occasioning death.
