Four of the club’s members, Tim Rogers, John Grant, Stephen Cotter and Cathryn McFarland, made the trek north to participate in the annual event at Coomera on the Gold Coast.
The four rowers competed in sweep (one oar per rower) and scull (two oars) events on Saturday and Sunday.
It is great to see everything coming together after all the work we’ve put in.
- John Grant
Rogers and Grant competed together in the Masters F Grade 1000m Double Scull and Pair Race to take the gold and silver in the respective races.
“It is great to see everything coming together after all the work we’ve put in,” Grant said.
“Racing against other clubs at this level is always a good opportunity to improve our skills and gain experience.
“It is always exhilarating to win races, though the best part is seeing our regional club being competitive against the coastal cities.”
The club will make another trip next month to compete at the NSW Masters in Penrith.
They hope to take a much larger contingent and repeat their success from the championships in Queensland at the event on May 6 and 7.
