Norths United were due to start their campaign in an away match against Inverell Joeys but the Sapphire City’s fields are soaked, which led to a decision to close them until mid next week.
As a consequence, the Redmen’s match will be rescheduled to a Sunday within the next three weeks.
Despite the interruption to the first game, Norths are ready for the season ahead.
"It is looking good for this time of the year,” co-coach Scott Freeman said.
"We are as strong as we can be at this stage.”
While Norths won’t get to take to the field, Easts away game against Oxley Vale Attunga is expected to go ahead. It will be a tough trip for Easts, who went down 7-nil to the premiers in the first round of the FFA Cup earlier this month.
