The under 8s commenced the day. Coach Grant Petersen noted that the defensive line is becoming stronger each week as they have been working hard at training. Jakyden Craigie scored three tries and pulled off some strong tackles. Caden Carson, Cooper Petersen, Katriel Riley and Darius James all scored tries.
The junior league tag girls started strong with Tyshayla Ahoy scoring straight off the kick off. Team captain Paige Dawson led the girls well, busting through the defensive line to score. Makeesha Kennedy sped down the sideline to score in the corner. Tyshayla Ahoy scored her second try and with Kavisha Smith's successful conversion, Armidale ran out winners 20 to 12.
Unfortunately Andrew Dawson’s under 10s went down 38-0 against a very good Glen Innes outfit. Special mention to Raymond Hoskins-Caldwell and Darius James trying hard all game against some bigger opponents.
The under 12's started on the back foot and struggled to field a team with several players missing, the boys dug deep to play against a strong Glenn Innes side going down 32-6 at the final whistle. Coach Steve McCallum made special mention of Amos Tanikomave and Bernie Dawson who backed up from playing in the under 10s to help the under 12s.
This weekend was the last for coach Jess Smith of the senior girls league tag team. Scores were close at halftime. In the second half, the Ramettes were able to find the extra effort they needed to bring home a convincing win over Glen Innes 36-12. Lorraine Brazier and Mal Gaukroger will be taking over the coaching of the SLT team. The Under 14s coached by Jimmy Tanner came away with a 12-4 win with Scott Cutmore, Billy Youman and Malaki Griffiths all receiving coaches points for their performances on the day.
The Under 16s coached by Chet Davies and Brad Hague where impressed with a few position changes they had made since round one, the boys unfortunately went down in a close encounter, 14-6. On the day new comer Luke Pitkin, Jarrod Butler and Jack Kingdom all received points for excellent attack and defence.
The Junior Rams will next travel to Bingara.
