Showgirl coordinator and past entrant Emma Hooper said it’s not about beauty anymore.
“Confidence does come into it a little bit, it’s a fun process,” she said.
“We’re looking girls with hobbies, ambition, local knowledge and interest in basic politics.”
Entrants have to be aged 18 to 25 and have lived in Armidale for three months.
As a past showgirl Ms Hooper’s advice is to be your authentic self.
“Just believe in yourself, just do it,” she said.
“It’s great fun, you’ll never look back.
“A lot of the girls I entered with I’m still great friends with to this day.”
Ms Hooper encourages businesses around town to put their girls’ forward.
Entries close January 31.
