The Walcha Rotary Club celebrated 60 years of service to the community on Tuesday night at the Walcha Bowling Club. Members of Uralla, Armidale and Gloucester Rotary Clubs joined locals to mark the occassion.

In a pictorial presentation to the group Walcha Rotarian James Levingston outlined the many activities carried out by the club including a strong focus on youth development both locally and across the region.
The Club’s extensive fundraising for local infrastructure and evolution from stuffy men’s club to unisex friendship forum was detailed in a speech given by Walcha Rotarian Barry Spry.
Thanks to Walcha Rotary the town has an Olympic sized swimming pool, squash court centre , state of the art aged care hostel and outdoor gym equipment – to name a few.
However, Barry ended his address with the conclusion that for all the material impact on the world achieved by specific projects of Rotary, the greatest benefit overall to humanity from the organisation lay in the personal development of Rotarians themselves.
