Jeff Smith was born as raised in Glen Innes, he runs a successful business and has brought up his family locally, he is a no nonsense man who cares about his community and he wants your vote on September 10.

Mr Smith owns and operates a plumbing business that has run locally since May 1986 and that is still operating with his son, wife and daughter all actively involved.
He is currently the fire captain of the Glen Innes RFS brigade, where he has been a member for 18 years.
Mr Smith believes Councillors should represent the whole district and he would like to see the local government area grow.
“We have to keep in mind we have a strong rural community and villages that make up the Glen Innes district, “he said.
“A period of time ago, I was approached to stand for council and as our son is shouldering more responsibility in the business I now have time to give a commitment to our council and our community.
“I would like to bring to the table strong decision making for Glen Innes Severn Council. My life skills and knowledge that I have learnt through working in private enterprises and government agencies will give me the necessary experience to do that well.”
Mr Smith said as a rate payer, business man and community worker within the Glen Innes Severn Council area he understands what needs to done in the next four year term.
“I am passionate about having good road infrastructure, community assets and providing community services to the people of the Glen Innes and districts,” he said.
“I will always think of the best outcome for all residents, given what funds may well be available with any decisions that I will be asked to make on council.
“I am not frightened to partake in a robust conversation over issues that I am passionate about and will benefit our community, at the end of any discussion, those who are involved should be able to walk away feeling that no one has lost.”
Mr Smith said councillors and directors should be able to have robust discussions but work together to achieve the shared goal of making things better for people in the district.
“I will be mindful that elected councillors have certain rolls to fulfil for the community and paid staff have certain rolls they need to fulfil for the community, meaning that both should work for a positive outcome for all, whilst not crossing into each other’s area,” he said.
“If I am elected to council, I should be part of a team that will work as a collective group to provide positive services and social amenities to the Glen Innes community, which will benefit all and try to keep our kids in the community with jobs.
“If this can be achieved it will be a great outcome and therefore I ask voters to carefully consider their choice of councillors as their elected representatives, I think I have what it takes to be a councillor after September 10.”
