Ms Newman has lived in Glen Innes all her life, has bought her children up here and is passionate about the local government area.
“I want to give the community a voice so their ideas and concerns can be heard,” she said.
“I will listen openly to the ratepayer, and to the community member, because without their input, Council cannot continue to grow for the benefit of all.
“Through my voluntary and paid work with the youth, senior and disadvantaged residents of our area, I understand the importance of a fair go for all.
Ms Newman said she understands the issues that locals want council to focus on and with her vast experience she believes she can deliver results for residents in the local government area.
“One of our most important goals is to continually improve our rural roads,” she said.
“I believe that we also need to concentrate on assisting our villages to maintain infrastructure, we can’t just focus on the town area.
“We also need to attract business to our town, and lobby for our hospital and other projects so that people can see better value for their dollar.”
Ms Newman said If elected she could be counted on to listen to residents concerns and ideas.
“I will act as your advocate and I will represent your concerns and make sure your voice is heard within our local council and that means to our elected members and our directors, for the best outcome for all,” she said.
“I know sometimes people get very passionate about issues and things they would like to be done but I will treat each individual with the tact and courtesy they deserve.
“The last term the council had to make some hard decisions and we should see the benefit of those decisions because I want to make a brighter and positive future for our residents, our region’s children, their children and the generations to follow.”
