As a multiple sclerosis survivor Ms Henry feels strongly about promoting equity for the disabled in the local community.
Ms Henry said said she is concerned about the current councils decision making process.
“Many people have voiced their concerns about the current council, and indeed some disenchantment with decisions made and actions taken,” she said.
“I have always shown a keen interest in the affairs of the Glen Innes Severn Council, not only as they affect my village, but indeed the entire council region.
“The role of councillors as they represent the people, being consultative and mindful of the needs of all, is vital.”
Ms Henry is taking her candidacy seriously and said she has no hidden agenda.
“It is my intention, if elected, to stand Up For all, and I have chosen this as my motto, I pledge to be, if elected, a committed and conscientious councillor, attentive to the needs of the whole community, listening to and acting on their concerns, with an emphasis on equity and fairness,” she said.
“I would also be something of a breath of fresh air, with no hidden agenda or self-interest, rather a genuine concern for all pertinent issues, including, but not exclusive to, those of a rural nature, business, environment, water quality, education, health, mental health, young families, youth, the elderly and the disabled.
“I have been told many times that I have a tendency to be tenacious and I see this as a real plus.”
Ms Henry said infrastructure issues facing the town are vital and need to be addressed.
