Mr Gresham has been active in the recent federal election, campaigning for the Australian Liberty Alliance senate candidate and wants to make things happen in local politics by focusing on fiscal responsibility.
“My concerns for the community are, economic development and fiscal responsibility, and I will bring to council a can do attitude,” Mr Gresham said.“For several years I ran a small flying school at the airport and I was instrumental in the town securing the airport development proposal and over the years I have made several presentations to Council on various issues and many will remember my assorted submissions to the Examiner.“My wife Lara and I are heavily committed to the Celtic Festival and I want council, both the elected members and the staff, to become problem solvers, not problem makers.”
Mr Gresham said council must show residents how to get over, under, around or through issues.
“We have to answer the question of can we do it with a solid yes we can,” he said.“I believe the greatest asset this community has is its young people, however, the only way Glen Innes will be able to retain our quality youth is with jobs, good, long term, and rewarding, well paid jobs. “I will do everything I can to encourage sensible, suitable economic growth.”
Mr Gresham also believes the budget surplus needs to be managed properly.
“This community now has a rare budget surplus,” he said.“Our nest egg needs to be managed to develop and enhance our roads, bridges, water and sewage in a way that business and industry will start to look at Glen Innes as the place to be, resulting in jobs, youth and prosperity. I do not want community funds frivolously squandered. “Essentially I am a highly conservative person, I have absolutely no time for political correctness or any other such B.S. and I have no intention of being anyone’s doormat or anyone’s puppet.”
