Bimblebox: art – science - nature is an exhibition at New England Regional Art Museum.
It aims to showcase artists’ interpretations of the Bimblebox Nature Refuge, which is currently under threat from coal mining.
“It aims to start a broader conversation about mining,” exhibition curator Beth Jackson said.
“Of the venues that have previously taken the show, quite are few are mining places or near places with mining.”
Artist camps held at the refuge have sought to explore its environmental, social and scientific significance.
Ms Jackson said while mining had slowed, now was the time to spread the word. “It’s really about a citizen effort,” she said.
“Touring the show around for two years keeps the conversation going.”
The exhibition features a variety of work including painting, photography, print making and installation.
Bimblebox: art – science - nature will be on show at NERAM until Sunday, April 24.
