These ladies from The Pop-Up Store are busy setting up shop for when their temporary retail location opens tomorrow night.
The shop will be housed in space previously used by Hanna’s Department Store and will be open seven days a week until Sunday, December 13.
Organiser Anna Boston said the space was chosen primarily for its location.
“It’s a nice way to liven up this end of the mall, and it is easy for people to access with parking just outside the door,” she said.
“Plus it is a beautiful space and we have been able to use some of the old furniture.” Its opening will feature six stallholders - My Sister Audrey, SisterSpice, House of Jackson, Sunshill Skin Essentials, Bellingen Candle Company and New England Brewing Company.
Other shops that have popped up include a Christmas Concepts store, which specialises in different clothing labels from the Beardy Street Mall store, as well as beach and festive gifts.
A designer pop-up shop is also trading until Christmas at the back of Infinity for Skin and sells custom made wedding dresses, and vintage designer labels such as Escada. Ms Boston said pop-up stores prove popular in Armidale as they provide a chance to purchase out of the ordinary items.
“I think there is a novelty factor to it,” she said.
The temporary shop is also giving men a helping hand with a Blokes Shopping Night on Thursday December 10 from 5pm.
The event will include beer
tasting and food from Pizza Capers.
“We’ve found in the past that women are buying items for
themselves and giving it to their partner to give to them,” Ms Boston said.
“This event hopes to make the shop an accessible place for men, and we will even wrap the present for them.”
The Pop-Up Store will open tomorrow night at 5pm.
