The two males, both wearing facial covers, attacked Indian Zaika Restaurant around 8pm.
Threatening staff with the knife, one of the males grabbed the cash register while another assaulted a woman.
The woman did not seek medical attention. Inspector Chris McKinnon confirmed police attended the scene but have no current leads.
“Our inquiries are continuing,” Inspector McKinnon said.
“We are seeking any information on the incident."
Police are now looking for two men who may be able to assist with enquiries.
One of them is described as being aged between 25 and 30 and about 180 centimetres tall. He was seen wearing a dark-coloured hoodie, grey or navy-coloured loose-fitting tracksuit pants as well as a dark scarf-bandana with white markings covering his face.
The other man was described as being aged between 20 and 30 and around 180 centimetres tall.
He was seen wearing a
dark-coloured hoodie and a dark cloth covering his face below the eyes.
The robbery is now the third armed attack using knives in Armidale, with a Girraween liquor store targeted last Wednesday evening. Armed with a machete and knife, two men confronted an employee inside Freddy’s Liquor Store also on Queen Elizabeth Drive demanding cash.
The men fled with cash and cigarette lighters.
Girraween post office was also raided at knife point last month when two men armed with machetes entered the property.
Two staff members and seven customers were threatened before the men escaped with cash from the till and safe.
Armidale police are urging any community members who witness any suspicious activity to contact the station on 6771 0699.
